About CAVU Publications

I have been an aviation enthusiast for as long as I can remember. I was born while my dad was going through flight training, eventually earning his wings and becoming a Marine aviator.

Books were an important part of growing up, with dinosaurs and aircraft being my favorite subjects. Dinosaurs faded, but aircraft did not. I poured over William Green's "Famous Fighters of WW2" and "Famous Bombers of WW2" book series constantly. I still have copies of the complete set.

When I was 7 or 8, I spent some time hanging out with my dad at the hangers on base. When we headed home, I told him I wanted an A-4 Skyhawk, like the ones that I had been staring at. We stopped at the base hobby shop and purchased a Monogram 1/48th scale F-5 since they didn't have any A-4s. My dad and I finished it that day, and my interest in model building began.

Years later, after almost 30 years in the printing trade, I had an opportunity to combine my interests and start a publishing company to produce books, starting with the helicopter subjects that I grew up with.
